The Forest Preserve District of Will County offers a natural world full of family fun. In addition to acres of outdoor recreational opportunities, the Forest Preserve has many visitor facilities for you to discover. Below is a list of various phone numbers and addresses to help you find what you are looking for.

Forest Preserve District Office

8:00am - 4:00pm, weekdays.

The District Office provides informational services, such as brochures and permits for the public. The office also offers informational programs to community groups in Will County.


Plum Creek Nature Center

10:00am - 4:00pm, Tuesday, through Saturday / 12:00pm - 4:00pm, Sunday

Plum Creek Nature Center features hands-on displays that help you explore your natural world. Highlights include exhibits featuring Nature in Your Backyard and Birds, Bats, and Butterfiles. The Nature Center provides educational programming for school groups, youth groups, and the community.


Isle a la Cache Museum

Isle a la Cache Museum features hands-on displays that highlight the late eighteenth century fur trade between the Native Americans and French voyageurs. The Museum provides on-site and in-school educational programming for school groups, youth groups, and the public.


Environmental Learning Center

Nestled amidst an 1,800 acre preserve, the Environmental Learning Center offers a wide range of environmental education programs and services for educators, youth groups, and the community. Programs and services include camping, workshops, and conference facilities.


Monee Reservoir

Center Closed on Mondays

Monee Reservoir is a public fishing lake that offers boat and canoe rentals, concessions, and small tackle items for fishing the lake.


Thorn Creek Nature Center

Preserve hours: 8:00am - 10:00pm
Visitor Center: 12:00pm - 4:00pm, Thursday through Sunday and by appointment.

School groups and the public can enjoy a variety of nature programs offered at this scenic 850 acre preserve.


Lake Renwick Heron Rookery Visitor Center

May through August, Wednesdays, 10:00am guided hike and Saturdays, 8:00am - 12:00pm, with interpretive talks at 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00am

Visitors to Lake Renwick Heron Rookery Visitor Center can view hundreds of nest sites from five species of birds, one of which is state endangered.
