The Forest Preserve District owns and / or manages over 15,000 acres in over 30 sites throughout Will County. To help protect Will County's flora and fauna, certain activities within the preserves require a permit. The money that is collected from permits will be used to further improve the parks and make sure many generations can enjoy them.

Picnicking

Picnic permits are required for groups of 25 or more or for those wishing to reserve a particular picnic site. Most sites have shelters and horseshoe pits and are located near trails and play fields (call for specifics). All sites include restrooms, grills, picnic tables, and drinking water.

Certain activities are subject to approval and may require additional fees: use of a generator, moon walk, dunk tank, 20 x 20 or larger tent, or picnic table relocation.

Picnic permits must be made in person at any one of the following locations: District Office (Joliet), Isle a la Cache Museum (Romeoville), Monee Reservoir (Monee), and Plum Creek Nature Center (Beecher). Call 815.727.8700 for picnic site availability.
