Forest Preserve Activities
Fishing

Monee Reservoir is the Forest Preserve's only developed fishing lake. The reservoir is stocked with largemouth bass, channel catfish, northern pike, black crappie, sunfish, and bluegills. Fishing is free from the shoreline, and row boats can be rented from the concessions building for fishing on the lake. Customers can bring their own trolling motors for the row boats.

On other District properties, fishing is permitted in any pond except where posted. These postings are clearly and prominently displayed.

Otherwise, anglers can use forest preserve properties to fish in the DuPage and DesPlaines Rivers and other waterways. DuPage River fishing is available at Hammel Woods (Shorewood) and McKinley Woods (Channahon), and DesPlaines River fishing is available at Isle a la Cache Museum (Romeoville). Forsythe Woods (Wilmington), Lake Renwick Preserve - Turtle Lake Access (Plainfield), and Rock Run Greenway-Black Road Access (Joliet) permit pond and stream fishing.
