Forked Creek - Forsythe Woods
County Map    Trail Map
Forked Creek Preserve's 114 acres features Forsythe Woods, whose location in southwestern Will County serves the populations of Braidwood and Wilmington.

The first thing you notice upon pulling into Forsythe Woods are the tall grasses waving in the breeze. These prairie grasses, native to Illinois, stand as tall as five feet in the summertime. A one-mile hiking trail leads to Forked Creek, where anglers can dip a line. The trail serves as a cross-country trail when snow covers the ground.

Other amenities at Forsythe Woods include a picnic shelter, with horseshoe pits, drinking water, and latrine located nearby. In the large open play field located to the west of the picnic pavilion, you can play ball, fly a kite, or even toss a boomerang. Tent camping is also available for youth groups.
