During freezing weather, ice skating ponds are available at Goodenow Grove (Beecher) and Monee Reservoir (Monee). Ice thickness is checked daily and ponds are cleared. Postings at both preserves tell whether ice skating is available on that day, or you can call Plum Creek Nature Center, in Goodenow Grove, at 708.946.2216, or Monee Reservoir at 708.534.8499. Bring your owns skates. When your fingers begin to tingle, come into the nature center or Monee Reservoir concessions building to warm up by the fireplace or wood burning stove.
