Asphalt trails are ideal for in-line skating. Many forest preserves offer asphalt trails for enthusiasts of this increasingly popular activity.
The 20-mile Old Plank Road Trail gives in-line skaters an asphalt trail that features rolling terrain and a backdrop that includes forests, meadows, and wetlands.
The Rock Run Trail between Essington Road and Black Road in Joliet, 3 miles in length, is another favorite of skaters as is the Rock Run Trail: Jefferson Street to the I&M Canal, 4.1 miles. The 2.8 mile Hickory Creek Bikeway-West Branch, in Mokena, connects Schoolhouse Road to Hickory Creek Junction and the 1.8 mile Hickory Creek Bikeway-East Branch.
In Plainfield, in-line skaters can enjoy the 2.9 mile Lake Renwick Bikeway.
In the Joliet-Shorewood area, the Forest Preserve offers the 4.4 mile Joliet Junction Trail and the 1.7 mile Hammel Woods Bikeway.
Come out and enjoy the morning or afternoon and in-line skate one of our great trails.
