| In order to reduce trash in preserves, the District adopted in 2003 a Pack In, Pack Out requirement at select preserves. When reserving a picnic pavilion at one of these preserves, customers are asked to pack out their wastes for disposal at home and are given trash bags for that purpose. In addition, those who reserve pavilions at other preserves are given the option of packing out their trash. A $10.00 discount is given for the pavilion rental and bags are provided for those who agree to do so. The Pack In, Pack Out preserves are: Runyon Preserve, in Lockport Laughton Preserve, in Wilton Center Hickory Creek Barrens, in Mokena Hickory Creek Junction, in Mokena Lambs Woods, in Lockport Four other preserves are designated as Pack In, Pack Out though these do not have picnic pavilions. These four do not have garbage receptacles, and day users of the preserves are asked to take out their litter with them.
