| Forest Preserve Regional Trails |
The Forest Preserve provides miles of interlinking trails that crisscross Will County and provide enjoyment to outdoor enthusiasts. These trails allow hikers, bicyclists, in-line skaters, joggers, equestrians, and cross-country skiers safe, scenic trials on which to exercise.

No trail is designed for motorized use of any kind.
           
Old Plank Road Trail This trail follows an abandoned rail line and passes through prairie and wetlands. The trail runs from Western Avenue in Park Forest to Park Road in Joliet Township for a distance of 20 miles. Access is available at Hickory Creek Junction in Mokena.
I&M Canal Trails This connecting trail consists of three segments for a total of 11.4 miles. The Centennial Trail extends north of 135th Street for 3 miles along the Des Plaines River to the Cook County border. The Lockport segment extends south from 135th through downtown Lockport to Dellwood Park for a total of 5.1 miles. The final segment passes for 3.3 miles along the Joliet Iron Works Historic Site in Joliet. Access to this trail system is at Isle a la Cache and Schneider's Passage in Romeoville, and the Joliet Iron Works Historic Site in Joliet.
Hickory Creek Bikeway - East Branch This 1.8 mile trail begins at LaPorte Road Access in Mokena and winds through woodlands and past swift flowing Hickory Creek to end at the Frankfort Township Swimming Pool. A trail connection leads to the Mokena Park District.
Hickory Creek Bikeway - West Branch Travel this trail from Hickory Creek Junction in Mokena 2.8 miles to Brightway Lane and onto Hickory Creek Barrens at Schoolhouse Road in New Lenox. Here, trail users can view Schmuhl School, the last one room schoolhouse in the area (opening in 2005).
Rock Run Trail The 8.6 mile Rock Run Trail extends from Theodore Marsh on Theodore Street in Crest Hill south and west to our preserve, Black Road Access, at Ingalls and Essington. From here, the trail loops through the preserve to Black Road and south of Jefferson. Pick up the trail again at Jefferson for another 4.1 miles to the I&M Canal Access, and Joliet Junior College South Lot, all in Joliet.
Lake Renwick Bikeway Located within Lake Renwick Preserve, this 2.9 mile paved trail follows Lockport Street to Four Seasons Community Park, then runs south through wetland areas where herons and egrets forage for food. Access the trail at Lake Renwick Heron Rookery, on Route 30 and Turtle Lake Access (open 2004).
Wauponsee Glacial Trail Named after an ancient glacial lake, this trail, currently under construction, will run for 26 miles along abandoned rail lines from Joliet to Kankakee and is ideal for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and horseback riding. A 15-mile segment from Joliet to Symerton is now complete. Access the trail at the Forest Preserve's Sugar Creek Administration Center in Joliet, Manhattan Road in Manhattan, or Commercial Drive in Symerton.
Hammel Woods Bikeway This 1.7 mile paved trail in Shorewood connects the dog park and picnic groves within Hammel Woods and takes visitors along the scenic DuPage River. Access the trail at Hammel Woods from Black Road or Route 59.
Joliet Junction Trail This trail begins at Theodore Street in Crest Hill near U.S. Route 30 and parallels Larkin Avenue for 4.4 miles. Visitors can use street routes for 1.6 miles to connect to the I&M Canal State Trail in Rockdale.
